Aisling is establishing a fast-growing Court of Protection practice, specialising primarily in health and welfare cases. She acts on behalf of P, local authorities, health bodies and family members. Aisling is experienced in deprivation of liberty cases (including both Section 21A and Section 16 applications), as well as more complex restrictions such as covert medication and the removal of body hair. During the pandemic, Aisling acted for a health body in an application relating to the COVID-19 vaccine and restraint.
Aisling has particular expertise in cases concerning sexual relations, having regularly acted in TZ-style applications in the High Court. She recently appeared in the Court of Appeal in a landmark case addressing the Sexual Offences Act 2003 ([2021] EWCOP 25; [2021] EWCA Civ 1527).
Furthermore, Aisling is frequently instructed in property and affairs matters. She has represented the Public Guardian, professional deputies, local authorities and family members in cases involving lasting powers of attorney and deputyship.
