Wendy has a law degree (LLB) from Manchester University and qualified as a Solicitor working in both private practice and local government before joining the Planning Inspectorate in 1990. Since then she has conducted a broad range of casework. High profile cases include a compulsory purchase related appeal for part of the London Olympic site, a s78 Inquiry concerning applications made by Cuadrilla Ltd for hydraulic fracturing monitoring and exploration works near Preston, Lancashire, the Thames Tideway Tunnel Open Space Inquiry (NSIP PA 2008), the East Anglia One Offshore Windfarm (NSIP PA 2008) and the Hinkley Point C Connection (NSIP PA 2008).
Wendy has worked for PINS for many years and is one of their most respected Inspectors. She has dealt with a number of high profile cases including enforcement, fracking, and several National Infrastructure cases. She has high level management experience in PINS running an Inspector Sub group, and is also responsible for advice to Inspectors on Enforcement and associated caselaw, as well as dealing with High Court challenges on (primarily) enforcement grounds.
