It is with great sadness and a deep sense of shock that Chambers announces the passing away of our former member, Frances Patterson DBE on 21st December 2016 after a short, devastating illness.
Frances was a member at Kings from 1979 until 2009 when she left to become a Law Commissioner. She had established a formidable reputation as a planning junior and silk in her years in Kings where she served as Head of Chambers between 2004 and the end of 2009. She became a Bencher of Middle Temple in 2005. After a period at the Law Commission where, amongst other things, she piloted the revision of the law in respect of adult social care, she was appointed to the High Court Bench in 2013. Frances served as a Judge of the QBD until her recent illness in 2016. She will be remembered not only as a distinguished member of Chambers and the Judiciary but also as an honourable, engaging and accomplished woman, wife and mother. We all extend our condolences to Graham and the boys.
