Kings Chambers is delighted to announce that Sam Karim KC has been appointed an Article 2 Investigator by the Rt Hon Alex Norris MP, Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice. In this ministerial appointment, Sam will investigate deaths and near-deaths in custody, ensuring compliance with the State’s obligations under Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights — continuing in full-time practice at Kings Chambers throughout.

Steve Loxton, [Chief Clerk], said: “This appointment is a natural reflection of Sam’s standing at the forefront of public inquiries, investigations and human rights law, matched by his judicial experience. Many congratulations to him.”

Sam Karim KC is a leading silk in administrative law, mental capacity law, public inquiries/investigations, and arbitration. He also sits as a Deputy High Court Judge in the Family Division, Administrative Court, and as a Tier 3 Judge of the Court of Protection.
