Kings Chambers has a role available for a Junior Clerk based in our Leeds chambers. The overall objective of this role will be to assist the Clerking Team in the day to day running of the members' practices and to ensure the seamless flow of work throughput in clerk’s room in order for chambers to run efficiently. The job holder will work closely with the other Chambers’ clerks as well as the barristers themselves.

Responsibilities & duties are outlined below but not limited to;

  • Use of LEX case management System
  • Diary management and practice development in all practice areas
  • Recording of fees
  • Assisting with and marketing & chambers events
  • Maintaining good relationships with existing and potential solicitors to Chambers
  • General clerking and administration duties
  • Entering post, papers, new instructions, briefs etc.
  • Liaising with the courts listing
  • Delivering document to various solicitors & the courts locally
  • Photocopying / Scanning / Faxing

 

Qualities Required

  • A minimum of 12 months clerking experience desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with people at all levels and to create and maintain good working relationships.
  • Must be smartly dressed, with a willingness to learn and work at times to tight deadlines
  • Capacity to thrive in a small team environment and is a team player who gets on well with colleagues.
  • Takes personal responsibility for delivering agreed objectives and takes professional pride in delivering a high quality standard of service.
  • Willingness always to represent Chambers in the best possible light.
  • Willing to learn new things to deal with a multi-faceted role.
  • A good knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
