A vacancy has arisen for a Civil Clerk to join our Personal Injury Team. The successful candidate will work as part of our dedicated team who look after the accident work provided by our insurer clients.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Logging in briefs for all fast-track matters.
  • Sending papers to counsel.
  • Fee Assessment and sending of fee notes
  • Taking bookings for counsel from insurers and panel solicitors over the phone, which entails discussing appropriate fees. This can differ from Trials, MOJ’s, small claims, Telephone hearings.
  • Chasing papers from solicitors.
  • Diary management.
  • Organising of couriers for counsel.
  • Checking court lists and daily communication with courts.
  • Working alongside PI clerks in managing the diary and allocating work.
  • Logging in and sending of outcome reports from counsel onto insurers and panel solicitors.
  • Collating and presenting management information to chambers insurer clients
  • Weekly Bordereau summary for all insurer client fees.
  • Attending meetings with the Chief Clerk for the department, when required, with insurer clients
  • Maintaining and developing the relationship with the insurer clients

Qualities Required

  • A good knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Desired – some customer service and / or clerical experience or relevant experience gained in a similar environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with people at all levels and to create and maintain good working relationships.
  • Must be smartly dressed, with a willingness to learn and work at times to tight deadlines
  • Capacity to thrive in a small team environment and is a team player who gets on well with colleagues.
  • Takes personal responsibility for delivering agreed objectives and takes professional pride in delivering a high quality standard of service.
  • Willingness always to represent Chambers in the best possible light.
  • Willing to learn new things to deal with a multi-faceted role.
