Paul Tucker QC and Michael Rudd instructed by Matthew Gilbert of the Planning Consultancy on behalf of Redrow Homes (NW) Ltd have succeeded in securing planning permission for 186 homes in a countryside location to the east of Pen-y-ffordd in Flintshire, North Wales. The appeal was heard by way of a planning inquiry which sat for four days in November and December 2017. The main issue addressed was whether, in the absence of a five year supply of deliverable housing land, the appeal proposal amounted to a sustainable form of development, with particular reference to the effect on the cohesiveness of the community and landscape character and visual amenity.
