Before coming to the Bar Paul was a solicitor with both Watson Burton and Brooke North.  He practises in all aspects of chancery and commercial dispute resolution. 

His practice is predominantly contentious with particular specialism in all areas of Real Property work (registered and unregistered land, commercial, residential and agricultural) including restrictive covenants, easements, boundaries, highways, mortgages and landlord & tenant.

Paul also specialises in all aspects of trust, probate and administration, commercial, company and insolvency work with particular emphasis on claims for equitable relief.

Paul undertakes professional negligence work in his practice areas referred to above with particular emphasis on solicitors, surveyors, construction professionals, architects and accountants.

As a former solicitor Paul is very client focused and understands the needs of clients for clear impartial advice.

Paul will also undertake non-contentious drafting relating to the above practice areas were necessary.

A significant amount of Paul’s work centres on Real Property Litigation, including landlord and tenant, in which he has wide experience of all tribunals including in the County Court, High Court, Court of Appeal as well as before the Property Tribunal. Paul has a particularly strong practice in relation to easements, restrictive covenants and boundary disputes.

A further significant amount of Paul’s work centres on contentious Trust and Probate work such in particular validity of wills, administration of estates and trusts and Inheritance Act cases.

Paul also undertakes insolvency work in particular in respect of property disputes within insolvency proceedings.

Paul has developed an excellent practice in the area of commercial litigation and regularly provides representation and advice on disputes in the Chancery Division, Commercial/Mercantile Court, the Technology and Construction Court and the County Court.

Paul has particular interest in disputes involving equitable remedies rectification, specific performance and injunctive relief.

Professional Negligence

Professional Negligence

Paul has considerable expertise in profession negligence claims with particular emphasis on solicitors, surveyors, construction professionals, architects and accountants. He is currently involved in large scale litigation against a number of solicitors for negligence arising out of the mis-selling of park homes and the purchase of those homes.

He also is currently acting for a number of surveyors defending negligence claims in relation to valuations used for sub-prime mortgages.
