On 13th April 2022, an appeal was allowed by Inspector Chamberlain in respect of a proposal for 155 homes adjoining Walberton in Arun District. Paul G Tucker QC acted as advocate for the Appellant David Wilson Homes instructed by Peter Cleveland of Henry Adams.

The appeal involved a range of issues including contribution to the 5-year housing land supply deficit, landscape and heritage but the most controversial issue revolved around the impact on the A27 and in particular how to resolve an objection from National Highways. The appeal hearing itself took place in two parts separated by 6 months to resolve highway issues, and the result is a scheme which properly mitigates its impact on the strategic highway network whilst delivering much-needed housing.
