John Barrett acted on behalf of the appellant to secure planning permission for a 200 berth marina development at Wrenbury, Cheshire. Inspector Brendan Lyons in his decision letter dated 16 June 2015 granted planning permission. The application had been refused by Cheshire East Council on grounds concerning impact on the character and appearance of the conservation area and the effect on rural character of the locality.Although the inspector considered there was some adverse effect on the setting of the conservation area and listed parish church he considered that the benefits of the development outweighed such harm. Consequently the appeal was allowed despite the opposition of the council and many local residents.
