Costs Series: Retainers and billing after Belsner


Last month the Court of Appeal gave judgment in Belsner v Cam Legal Services [2022] EWCA Civ 1387 and Karatysz v SGI Legal LLP [2022] EWCA Civ 1388. These two cases will have a significant impact on how solicitors draft their retainers and how they bill clients, in an era of expanded Fixed Recoverable Costs.
