Permission to apply for judicial review granted in challenge to COVID Culture Recovery Fund

Permission to apply for judicial review has been granted in a challenge against the refusal to provide Cultural Recovery Funding as operated by the Art Council at the behest of the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture Media and Sports. In July 2020, the Secretary of State, announced a £1.57 billon Culture Recovery Fund rescue package for cultural organisations to help the cultural sector survive the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sam Karim QC instructed by Lawrence Abramson of Keystone Law, represents the Get Real Marketing Company Limited. Ifsa Mahmood also of Kings assisted.

This adds to the catalogue of successful cases led by Sam Karim QC in relation to COVID-19, including the removal of the 10pm curfew for the hospitality industry, and the 3 Tier system for restrictions.
