Store Wars – John Barrett was successful in acting for Asda Stores Limited opposing a supermarket proposal by Lidl UK GmbH.
The appeal site was an out-of-centre location at Mansfield Road, Sutton in Ashfield. Asda owned a town centre site known as the Northern Bridge Road site that Asda maintained was sequentially preferable and was suitable and available. Inspector Philip Major agreed with Ashfield District Council and Asda that the appeal application failed the sequential test and planning permission was refused.
