Following a lengthy legal battle permission has finally been granted for retrospective planning permission to retain a landmark building that had been constructed on a main route into Newcastle. The large 4 storey care home had been built in a way which significantly differed from the planning permission which had been granted and the City Council had sought its complete demolition. Kings barrister Paul G Tucker QC who acted for the successful Appellant described the decision as a “victory for common sense”.
