We are delighted to once again support the Wood Street Mission’s Christmas Appeal, helping to ensure that children and their families across Greater Manchester who are struggling to make ends meet receive toys, gifts and treats for Christmas.
Christmas is an especially difficult time of year for families affected by poverty and the Wood Street Mission aims to ease the strain for struggling parents by ensuring that no child goes without by providing new toys and books for every child.
2019 marks the 7th year that Kings Chambers have been supporting the Wood Street Mission and this year was particularly successful with our members and staff donating generously to buy gifts, toys, books and treats for children from 0-14 years. The gifts were collected by volunteers this week so that parents can visit the Mission and select presents for their children.
Nigel Poole QC, Head of Chambers commented: “Barristers, clerks and staff at Kings Chambers have yet again come together to raise funds for the Wood Street Mission and to provide Christmas gifts for them to distribute to families in Manchester and Salford. This year marks Wood Street Mission’s 150th anniversary and their work supporting families in poverty sadly continues to be needed. They do a fantastic job and we are delighted to make our contribution.”
Wood Street Mission was established in 1869 and supports children and families on low incomes in Greater Manchester. The Christmas Appeal is a flagship fundraising initiative which Kings are proud to support.
