Kings Chambers has become the first barristers set outside London to launch a specialist costs mediation service.
Kings Chambers has also joined the exclusive panel of mediators at Costs ADR with all six specialist barristers of the Kings Chambers Costs Team securing a key accreditation with Costs ADR to practice as specialist costs mediators.
Costs ADR is the only organisation in the UK to focus exclusively on mediation in costs litigation.
Kings Chambers has already been accepting instructions on both mediation and paper based evaluative assessments from solicitors nationwide.
Mediation, also known as Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is a fast, private and cost-effective way of settling a dispute. It is now being actively encouraged by Judges who are even penalising those who don’t consider it.
Harry Young, Costs Clerk at Kings Chambers, said: “We’re proud to be at the forefront of Costs Litigation with the launch of ADR in Costs. The recent shift towards supporting and encouraging parties to engage in ADR has seen an increase in the demand for specialism in this niche area. Penalties for failing to engage in ADR are becoming increasingly commonplace and we’re certain there is a growing demand in the marketplace for this. We’re creating an environment in which parties can seek to resolve their differences in a cost effective and creative manner rather than having the matter resolved publicly in the courts.”
