Kings Chambers has dominated the listings for Costs in this year’s Legal 500 as the only set on the Northern Circuit with barristers ranked.
The costs group at Kings Chambers was described as “the strongest in the North” with “an excellent set of barristers”, who are instructed in costs appeals, solicitor own client disputes, wasted or non-party costs orders, and fixed costs disputes.
Among the barristers listed, Matthew Smith was described as “an excellent advocate with an eye for detail”, alongside Paul Hughes, who was characterised as being a “fiercely intelligent and a very robust advocate.”
Kevin Latham was given plaudits, with one comment stating “his knowledge of costs is laudable” while Dr Mark Friston was described as having “expertise in costs law and litigation funding”.
Overall, Kings had 57 barristers ranked in the top tier of their respective specialisms, comprising 14 silks and 43 junior barristers.
In addition to Costs, in the Northern Circuit Kings were also the only set with barristers listed as top tier in Construction, Planning and Environment.
