Jonathan Fletcher-Wright has been awarded the Pro Bono Champions Award by the Chancery Bar Litigant in Person Support Scheme (CLIPS). This accolade recognises individuals who have dedicated three or more days to volunteering within a calendar year, showcasing their commitment to providing legal support to those in need.
Jonathan comments as follows on the award: “This year so far, I’ve spent two days with the CLIPS bankruptcy scheme in the Rolls Building, and another day with one of their pro bono schemes in the RCJ. It’s been incredibly rewarding. You have to get your head around a client’s case quickly, with limited or no paperwork, so it’s a real test of your legal skills. Every time I’ve volunteered, I’ve felt that I made a genuine difference to someone, usually at a difficult and stressful time in their life. I’d thoroughly recommend CLIPS to any of my colleagues at the Bar.”
The CLIPS program, founded in 2013 through a collaboration between the Chancery Bar Association, the Bar Pro Bono Unit, and the Royal Courts of Justice Advice Bureau, arranges for volunteers to provide on-the-day assistance to litigants in person appearing in the Chancery Division of the High Court, the Bankruptcy list at the Rolls Building, and the County Court at Central London (CCCL). Jonathan is a member of the Chancery Bar Association, one of the participating organisations.
