It is with a profound sense of sadness and loss that Chambers announces the passing of Jonathan Easton KC yesterday at St John’s Hospice in his native Lancaster. He was with his wife Helen and his brother David. He had been surrounded by the love of his family over the last few days, which befits a husband and father who himself gave out so much love.
It is less than a month ago that Chambers gathered to congratulate him on his appointment as King’s Counsel, having been postponed a year earlier following his diagnosis. His brother has written of how proud Jonathan was of being a Member of Kings Chambers and the friends with whom he had worked. That is little compared to the affection and esteem in which he was held by all who knew him and worked with him.
He was a lovely warm charismatic and big-hearted friend who we will all miss dearly. Our hearts go out to his wife, sons and family at this time. Our lives are indelibly richer for having had him in it and the world was a brighter place for his role in it.
“Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality”.
