Thank you to all those who tuned in last week to see Simon Gallagher talk about the Government’s response to Covid 19. For those who missed it, click here to watch it on YouTube.

Each week, the panel – Paul G Tucker QC, Mary Cook, Sasha White QC, Charlie Banner QC and Christopher Young QC – discuss the latest developments in planning law and policy from the week.

This week our special guest is Steve Quartermain CBE.

We have decided to come together during Covid 19 crisis to do a weekly show about the latest legal developments in the world of planning. As before, there is no charge for the event, but we would encourage you to make a modest donation to the NHS Combined Charity Page here: Clap For Our Carers, or whichever local charity you may prefer.

Case of the Week is Mayor Of London v SOSHCLG & Harrow School [2020] EWHC 1176 (Admin) a partially successful challenge to the SoS DL allowing an appeal permitting the demolition and new teaching & sports facilities in & outside the MOL.

PINS/MHCLG Decisions of the Week : SoS DLs in two appeals, firstly at Moor Lane, Woodthorpe, York where despite a housing crisis permission was refused for residential development in the GB and secondly Hawththorns, Farnham, where despite a failure to demonstrate a 5 ye HLS and an inspector recommendation to allow the appeal, the application of NPPF [14] led SoS to dismiss the appeal.

The initial findings of the Chiltern & South Bucks examination inspectors published on 7 May 2020 on Duty to Co-operate matters relating to Slough Borough Council’s unmet need.

All are downloadable from our LinkedIn page which we encourage you to ‘Follow’.

This week we will also have one special topics

An Interview with: Steve Quartermain CBE to discuss learning to live/work/play with and after Covid 19.

There will be “Nudge of the week” to those who ‘could do better’ as well as nominations for “Champion of the Week”. And if you are missing the fun of inquiries right now, we can guarantee some of the usual barristers’ banter and a bit of leg-pulling.

Please do join us and feel free to pass on these details to your colleagues and friends in the world of planning. This event is hosted on Zoom. The joining instructions are below. But don’t post the link on social media as we don’t want to get “screen bombed”!
