Head of the Planning Department Paul G Tucker QC said ‘the new NPPF is an important development in National Policy. It tries to learn the lessons of the former NPPF in the light of 6 years of regularly being interpreted by the Courts and hopefully will provide for a more streamlined approach to the delivery of sustainable development, and in particular to help address the national housing crisis. The endorsement of New Garden Settlements is of particular interest and provides a means to ensure planned sustainable growth for the future. It will be interesting to see how this new policy fares in practice!”
