Francesca P.Gardner, instructed by the mother of P, appeared in the first case of its kind to authorise the use of contraception for a woman with learning disabilities in circumstances where the contraception was said to have no therapeutic benefit but was instead proposed to safeguard P from further pregnancy in the event of sexual assault.
