Fiona Ashworth acted for the claimant in a case which concluded with a £1.35 million settlement at a Joint Settlement Meeting, arising from a traumatic table-saw accident.
The 37-year-old claimant (C) sustained a traumatic amputation to his dominant right ring and middle fingers and underwent four separate surgeries. He was left with a permanent reduction in grip strength and manual dexterity. He became a successful prosthetic user, utilising an MCP driver and grip lock which allowed him to continue working as a student support worker at a college. He also had a private cosmesis.
The claim was advanced for loss of earnings, care and occupational therapy, and the cost of future prosthetics. The pleaded Clare claim included elements relating to overuse syndrome and the need for professional care with ageing.
The matter concluded at JSM with a gross settlement of £1.35 million.
