Constanze has experience of judicial review particularly within the field of planning and environment law. Constanze advises on the application of the Aarhus convention in judicial review proceedings.

Advisory work has included appeals to the Parking Tribunal (advising Local Authorities on the merits of challenging adjudicators’ decisions and drafting grounds of challenge) and advising in respect of Local Government Ombudsman complaints, investigations and decisions. Constanze has experience of drafting Local Government Ombudsman complaints.

Constanze has experience of appearing before the Valuation Tribunal in council tax appeals.

Following completion of her pupillage at Kings Chambers, Constanze was a member of the Government Legal Department’s Junior juniors scheme (formerly known as Tsol’s ‘baby barrister’ scheme). She has extensive experience of drafting summary grounds of resistance for the Home Office in immigration rules, EEA and asylum decision judicial reviews.

Constanze is interested in freedom of Information, data protection and access to environmental information and she advises on these issues. She is a member of the International Association of Privacy Practitioners.


Constanze has a varied planning, environment and public law practice.

Constanze undertook a part-time secondment with Bromsgrove and Redditch District Council’s Legal Services Department in 2015-16. She advised on planning, local government law and judicial review and assisted with planning prosecutions. Constanze also acted as the authority’s legal advisor at planning committee.

Constanze’s licensing practice involves regular instruction to appear in the Magistrates and Crown Courts in taxi licence revocation appeals.

Constanze’s broader public law work includes: judicial review, Local Government Ombudsman complaints, Parking Tribunal appeals and Valuation Tribunal representation.

Before coming to the bar Constanze worked in the NGO sector. She was part of the legal team for ‘Control Arms’, a coalition of NGO’s working to secure a human rights orientated Arms Trade Treaty. Constanze retains an active interest in human rights law and, in particular, in planning and environmental cases involving human rights issues.
