We are delighted to report that our choosen Christmas Charity this year is The Wood Street Mission Christmas Project. All at Kings chambers were committed to donating toys, food and gifts to this very worthwhile cause.
Their mission is to help alleviate the effects of poverty on local children and their families through practical help. Each Christmas they provide children up to the age of 13 with a new toy or books for them to open Christmas morning along with a hamper of food for families. The gifts are given unwrapped to their parents along with some wrapping paper /gift tag so they can give to them to their children so they don’t feel their gift is a charity present.
Last year they collected over 35,000 items of food and over8,000 toys / books distributed to 4,100 children and 1,891 families. They tell us that 2100 families have registered for this support this year.
The mission co-ordinates many projects throughout the year. For further information about the Wood Street Mission and the good work that they do please click here to go to their website.
