Nicholas Truelove instructed by Ruksana Munir of LGSS Law Ltd, worked with the licensing team of East Northamptonshire Council to successfully prosecute three Defendants concerned in the unlicensed breeding and sale of dogs in what is understood to be the first prosecution in England under the 2018 Regulations

The Defendants, following legal discussion and legal argument, tendered pleas to two charges each, including one charge each under the Animal Welfare (Licencing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018.. The Defendants were sentenced solely under the 2018 Regulations and were each given community orders, required to pay a victim surcharge, and were disqualified from dealing in animals for a period of 5 years. Further, the Council recovered £9,000 as a contribution to its costs of the investigation and prosecution.
