Ben Williams recently appeared before Councillors in Leeds to argue for a fresh licence for Taylor’s Sports Bar and Grill, a bar that features on the now-notorious Otley Run in Headingley. This ‘event’ has grown over time, with around 4,000 people taking part in the pub crawl every weekend. Issues of crime, disorder and nuisance have increased to the extent that the area is now subject to a cumulative impact policy, making it harder to secure extended hours and new licences.
Despite objections from the police, environmental health and a large number of residents, the committee was persuaded that the bar would not add to the cumulative impact in the area. This is one of a number of Otley Run matters that Ben has been involved with recently.
