A group of current and former barristers’ clerks have raised £5,365 for a national trauma charity after completing a gruelling cycling challenge.
Last month, the five strong team completed the C2C, or Sea to Sea route which travels between the Irish Sea and the North Sea, from Cumbria to Tyneside. The group started their two-day journey in Whitehaven and finished in Sunderland.
The team comprised: Stephen Loxton, director of clerking at Kings Chambers, Gary Smith, chief clerk at Kings Chambers, Ben McKay, director of Zipvit, Scott Walker, motivational speaker, trainer and life coach, and Gary Bryant, CEO, Membership Solutions Ltd.
All money raised will go to Day One Trauma, a national charity dedicated to supporting lives affected by major trauma. Kings Chambers has recently become a corporate partner of the charity.
The iconic C2C route saw the group climb 11,400 feet, travel 140 miles and burn 8,000 calories. Impressively, over the two-day challenge, there was only one puncture and one fall into a drystone wall!
Stephen Loxton, director of clerking at Kings Chambers, said:
“We’re delighted to have completed this cycling challenge relatively unscathed! It was a great trip with fantastic friends and raising £5,000 for such an excellent cause is the icing on the cake. I know the money will go a long way in helping those whose lives have been impacted by major trauma-related injuries.”
