Vincent Fraser QC has successfully represented REG Windpower Ltd in securing planning permission for 4 wind turbines of 100 metres in height at Mynydd Brombil. The proposal was resisted by Neath Port Talbot CB and NRW who both appeared at the inquiry to oppose the proposal and was subject to an objection from Cadw on the basis of the impact upon Scheduled Ancient Monuments. The site lies outside SSA F and the appeal raised issues with respect to development outside SSAs, Welsh Government targets and capacity. The proposal raised issues with respect to impact upon Scheduled Ancient Monuments, listed buildings and Historic Landscape Areas. The development is on a plateau edge within 1000 metres of the settlement of Margam and the appeal considered issues with respect to landscape and visual impact.
