Sophie has been instructed on behalf of vulnerable adults and public authorities in claims arising from failures to safeguard vulnerable and incapacitated adults and claims arising from Article 5 breaches, following failures to authorise and manage deprivations of liberty. She is able to advise on multiple issues including liability, causation, quantum and settlement negotiations.
Sophie has been a tenant at Kings Chambers since October 2019, having completed her pupillage under the supervision of His Honour Judge Burrows and Richard Livingston.
Sophie practices in all areas of Court of Protection work, including health and welfare and property and affairs cases, as well as matters involving to the Mental Health Act. Sophie also acts in a wide-range of inquests and specialises in those involving mental health and mental capacity issues.
Sophie has a fast-growing public law practice, accepting instructions in Judicial Review proceedings and advising on health and social care matters.
Sophie also accepts instructions in abuse and human rights cases, in particular, failure to safeguard claims and Article 5 breaches arising from failures to authorise and manage deprivations of liberty.
