On 21st April 2017, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government issued seven decisions on recovered planning appeals, prior to the general election purdah period commencing. Martin Carter appeared in four of the seven cases which dealt with housing appeals and was on the successful side in each case, including acting for the Appellant in the only case of the seven in which the Secretary of State allowed a developer’s appeal. In three of the cases Martin acted for Cheshire West and Chester Council in conjoined appeals relating to proposals in Tattenhall. Those inquiries opened in June 2013 when Martin was led by Stephen Sauvain QC. When the inquiries re-opened in November 2015, Martin led Freddie Humphreys.
