Nathan's principal interest is in commercial and chancery law. He joined chambers in 2008 following successful completion of his pupillage with Jeffrey Terry and Wilson Horne, during which time he gained valuable experience in all areas of commercial, chancery, property, insurance and insolvency law. In September 2009, Nathan spent six weeks on secondment with the commercial litigation department of DLA Piper in Manchester.
Nathan appears regularly in the County Courts on general commercial, chancery and insolvency matters.
Banking
Nathan regularly attends hearings on behalf of major financial institutions in areas ranging from allegations of financial mis-selling to enforcement of guarantees and other debts. Nathan has also been involved in the recent litigation surrounding the enforceability of consumer credit agreements.
Nathan drafts defences for institutions and individuals in a wide variety of areas from undue influence to financial mis-selling.
Commercial
Nathan has experience of litigating a wide range of contractual and other commercial disputes. He has also represented many companies that are household names in fast track and small claims matters, as well as smaller companies and individuals. He is available to draft proceedings and provide advice.
Dispute Resolution
Nathan has experience of negotiations and mediation and always works to ensure that a client's commercial needs are given a high priority.
Finance
Nathan regularly attends hearings on behalf of major financial institutions in areas ranging from allegations of financial mis-selling to enforcement of guarantees and other debts. Nathan also deals with possession hearings for mortgage companies, including cases involving allegations of fraud, and has experience of dealing with data protection issues.
Nathan was recently involved in litigation surrounding the enforceability of consumer credit agreements. He also has experience of drafting defences for banks and individuals in a wide variety of areas from undue influence to financial mis-selling.
Insurance
Nathan has represented insurance companies and individuals in claims relating to policy coverage and the avoidance of liability by the insurer. Nathan also has experience of drafting proceedings and advising in insurance related matters.
Insolvency
Nathan regularly acts for companies and creditors in cases of corporate insolvency.
Nathan also acts for trustees in bankruptcy and individuals in bankruptcy proceedings and has experience of dealing with orders for sale, transactions at an undervalue and preferences.
Nathan has also appeared in the High Court to obtain extensions to administration orders and vesting orders.
Partnerships
Nathan has experience of advising and drafting proceedings in relation to partnership disputes.
Professional Negligence
Nathan has experience of dealing with negligence involving solicitors and insurance brokers and is able to advise or draft proceedings in these areas. Nathan recently delivered a short presentation to the Northern Chancery Bar Association at its annual conference on professional negligence.
Real Property
Nathan has experience of dealing with adverse possession claims and has appeared in the Lands Tribunal and the County Court on property related matters. Nathan has also represented clients in relation to agricultural tenancies and other landlord and tenant disputes, involving both residential and commercial leases.
Nathan is able to advise on property related matters and draft proceedings.
