Melanie Plimmer appointed Deputy Judge
Melanie Plimmer has recently been successful in the competition to appoint fee-paid Deputy Judges of the Upper Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber). She has previously sat as a fee paid Immigration Judge in the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal (AIT). In April 2010 the AIT ceased to exist and was replaced by the First Tier and Upper Tribunal. The Upper Tribunal sits at the apex of a new and comprehensive tribunal structure which includes judicial review powers of its own.
Melanie continues with her full-time practice in public law with particular emphasis on immigration-related / human rights / discrimination / prison judicial review and appellate work.
