Chambers turnover hits £20m

Kings Chambers has reported a rise in its annual turnover, breaking the £20m barrier after a successful year of growth.

Kings’ revenues rose to £20.085m for the twelve month period ending on 30th April 2010, up from £19.1m in 2009, a 5.1% increase driven by activity at both of its offices on either side of the Pennines.

A civil-only set with 89 members, Kings Chambers’ strategy has yielded significant success in recent years resulting in a rise up the Chambers & Partners’ 2010 national rankings by 15 places to 13th in the UK.

Dr Nicholas Braslavsky QC, Head of Chambers at Kings, said; “In a tough market for legal services, these results are testament to the value that a strong, independent referral bar can provide. Solicitors want to instruct counsel who know the law and can handle complex factual situations so that individual or corporate clients can be expertly represented in court.”

Kings Chambers barristers have worked on some extremely high profile cases in the past year with some notable successes on the way. Amongst the highlights have been the hearing involving Manchester United star Wayne Rooney and his wife Coleen in a dispute against their former agents Proactive Sports; the recent public inquiry into the £700m redevelopment of the Tithebarn area of Preston and the Everton Football Club public inquiry of 2009.

“Cases of any weight or complexity need specialist input,” added Dr Braslavsky. “We are committed to maintaining a level of excellence so that solicitors and their clients can continue to rely on our strength, integrity and independence.”
