Mini pupillage programme

Kings chambers is a leading set of barristers based in Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham.

Our Mini Pupillage programme held in Manchester is an extensive introduction to a career as a barrister. We provide court visits, workshops in topics such as advocacy, talks from judges, senior and junior practitioners about their work, opportunities to meet, mix and discuss issues with members, pupils, barristers’ clerks and others involved in the management of Chambers.

Each year we offer 25 places on the programme. Applications are invited from students in their second year of their law degree, or third year of a non-law degree or above.

We are particularly interested in receiving applications from students and others who are seriously considering practice at the bar, and who would be interested in applying for pupillage to these chambers in due course.

If you would like to apply for one of 25 places available in Manchester on the 28th to 30th June 2017, please download our application form

Completed applications should be submitted to: - MiniPupillage@kingschambers.com

Closing date for applications 10th April 2017.

We will consider each application carefully and on its own merits, but as a general guide, we are looking for evidence that the applicant has the intellectual and analytical skills, and the ability to communicate persuasively both orally and in writing, which are necessary for a successful career at the bar.

We actively pursue a policy of equal opportunities.

Insight into life at the bar... a law students experience of mini –pupillage:

During my mini-pupillage at Kings Chambers, I attended trials at court, hearing prosecution and defence submissions, witness testimonies, and the subsequent judgments of the cases. In addition, I attended conferences with clients, and had the opportunity to examine relevant case papers and associated court bundles; giving a real insight into life at the Bar.
