2:00 PM   Religious Observance & the Incapacitated Adult
Sam Karim QCSimon BurrowsFrancesca Gardner and Eliza Sharron will provide a seminar in relation to the important decision of Re IH (Observance of Muslim Practice) [2017] EWCOP 9 and the associated implications for Court of Protection, Social Work practitioners and care professionals generally. The session will focus on religious observance in circumstances where an adult lacks capacity to make decisions in relation to religious observance, obligations and rituals.
 
 
 
3:00 PM   Sexual Relations & the Duties of the State
Sam Karim QC ,Simon BurrowsFrancesca P. Gardner and Eliza Sharron will provide a seminar in relation to the important decision of CH v A Metropolitan Council [2017] EWCOP 12. Simon and Francesca represented Mr H's wife in the proceedings and will discuss issues relating to claims brought under the Human Rights Act 1998 within the context of proceedings in the Court of Protection and the obligations of the state in the context of sexual relations.
