Service delivery - partnerships, companies,  trusts, etc.

While much attention, effort and legal dispute has been devoted to what local government can do, recent years has seen more issues arsing in relation to how it does those things. With the policy imperative to find new ways of delivering services, there have been difficulties in using the existing legislative framework which was developed years ago in an age of largely direct service provision. While some legislative changes have been introduced to facilitate this, it has not been wholly successful and it is still necessary to use a variety of powers and techniques to deliver the required outcome in a legally sound way.

Members of the team have assisted authorities and their various partners in this process and by understanding both the relevant legal frameworks and the policy aims, have assisted clients to deliver the policy aims of effective partnerships and new forms of service delivery using companies, trusts, delegation, joint committees, framework agreements and other contracting arrangements.

In this regard Kings Chambers has the advantage of being able to combine the expertise of the public law team with the expertise of the commercial and chancery team to advise on the relevant aspects of company, trust and tax law to provide a properly integrated service to clients.
