Immigration, Asylum & National Security
Immigration and nationality law regulates admission to the United Kingdom for the purpose of international protection, family reunion, employment, business, retirement and temporary residence. These more traditional areas of national policy and law have been increasingly influenced and directed by developments in EU law, international law and human rights law. Immigration expertise is particularly relevant to other areas of public law such as prison law, discrimination law, housing law and community care.
Kings covers all these areas on behalf of claimants / appellants and the state / local authorities but members tend to focus on more complex work ie. Upper Tribunal, Court of Appeal and Judicial Review cases.
Some members are regularly instructed by the Treasury Solicitor. Some are on the Attorney General’s panel of Special Advocates and appear regularly in SIAC and the High Court.
We also regularly provide specialist advice to local authorities and on immigration issues arising within other forms of litigation including family and personal injury.
We pride ourselves on our excellent service and can offer assistance on an urgent (and out-of-hours) basis where necessary.
We also provide regular training events by way of bespoke in-house events from one or more of our team.
