Anna has regularly appeared in employment tribunals since 2007. She practices throughout the UK, representing Claimants and Respondents across all areas of employment law, and has acted in several hearings in excess of 10 days.
In addition Anna has appeared in the EAT on over 15 occasions, and has also advised on cases before the Court of Appeal. Anna has experience of injunctions, employment law contract claims before the County Court, and discrimination claims before the County Court.
Anna holds a specialist LLM in Labour Law from the LSE, and sits on the Equality and Diversity Committee of the Bar Council. She undertakes pro bono work under the ELAAS scheme.
Anna has a particular interest in special education needs law, and began representing parents before the (then) Special Education Needs and Disability in 2007 through the charity IPSEA. Anna has continued to undertake such work, and has also appeared in disability discrimination education cases. Additionally Anna previously sat as a Panel Member and Chair of Independent Admissions and Exclusions Appeal Panels, and is consequently well placed to advise on such matters.
Secretary of State for Business Innovation & Skills v Mr M McDonagh and 9 others, and Miss J Pengelly ( IRLR 598) – Represented all 11 employees in an appeal concerning the correct definition of insolvency for the purposes of compensating for unpaid wages due from the National Insurance Fund;
Mr J Walker v Sita Information Networking Company Limited ( Eq LR 476;  All ER (D) 317 (May)) – Successfully appealed a decision an employee was not disabled because the employment tribunal wrongly discounted his obesity and functional overlay when considering the effects of his impairments;
British Telecommunications plc v Mr L J Daniels (UKEAT/0554/11/MAA) – Successfully defended a finding a dismissal was unfair because the employer ought to have referred the mentally ill claimant for an occupational health assessment before dismissing him;
Mr M Savage v Nestle Waters Powwow Limited (UKEAT/0548/07/ZT;  All ER (D) 437) – Successfully argued that correctly interpreted an employee was entitled under his contract to be paid for overtime worked, and therefore the finding his dismissal was fair because he refused to could not stand.
M-v-S: Anna successfully represented the Respondent, a County Council in this 12 day race discrimination case, succeeding on all grounds, and successfully gaining an order of costs.
S-v-O: Anna successfully represented the Claimant in this unusual 6 day associative race discrimination claim, which later settled for £40,000.
M-v-L: Anna successfully represented the Respondent in a 10 day protected disclosure (whistle blowing) case.
Anna practises throughout employment and personal injury law. She undertakes written work, including pleadings and advices, and appears in Courts and tribunals throughout the UK, including at appellate level.
Anna appears in employment tribunals throughout the UK for Claimants and Respondents. Her clients includes County Councils, police forces, Hospital Trusts, major banks and supermarkets, several unions, including on a private basis, as well as individuals.
Anna practises throughout PI, undertaking work on the Fast Track and the Multi-Track. She particularly enjoys RTAs (including MIB/Motor insurance law), disease claims, and CICA cases. Anna represents Claimants and Defendants in equal proportions.
Anna is available to provide bespoke CPD lectures, and has published in excess of 20 articles in the last few years in her practice areas.
Anna is qualified to undertake direct access work.
