Giles specialises in planning and environmental law, acting for both the public and private sectors in England and Wales. He recently appeared for the promoter of an opencast coal mine with restoration to mixed use development. He has also acted on behalf of the lead objector in the Byley Gas Storage Inquiry, a major proposal for the underground storage of and processing of gas by Scottish Power. He is retained in the forthcoming Inquiry regarding the proposed development by Canataxx of a natural gas storage facility creating underground salt caverns through solution mining in Fleetwood. Experience of retail inquiries includes a major superstore development in Stafford and a wide range of enforcement matters. He appeared as Junior Counsel at the public inquiry into the proposed development of Doncaster Finningley Airport.
