Kings represent families of Nimrod crash servicemen Michael Rawlinson

Michael Rawlinson and Sophie Allan have just completed the Nimrod Inquest in which they
were instructed by the families arising out of the crash on 02.09.06 which led to the largest
loss of military life since the Falklands Conflict.  They were instructed to argue that the crash
arose from faults within the aircraft caused by  design flaws which rendered the aircraft
non-airworthy both then and now.

The Coroner made those findings and recommended that the entire Nimrod fleet be grounded Sophie Allan
until their safety could be assured by the MOD's own standards: it remains to be seen how
the subsequent political controversy will be resolved. From the legal perspective, the inquest


demanded the reception (often at very short notice) of highly complex technical evidence which 
then formed the basis of the cross examination of several senior RAF officers. The large number
of clients involved also added to the overall level of challenge
